The request
Our escalation dashboard has grown a lot and it's hard to find what I need. Could you take a look and suggest how to simplify it?

What Chip did

Rather than ask what she wanted instead, Chip opened the dashboard & read the note it keeps about it: the tile count had grown as teams asked for additions, and with no filters, answering "just my team" meant reading every tile.

Chip came back with a proposal: fewer tiles, page filters, the same data on one screen.

Reply: Yes. Keep the severity breakdown, I use that one.

One request came back, and Chip took it from there.

What got built

  • The same dashboard, rebuilt in place. Same address, so every bookmark & link still works.
  • A filter bar. Team, severity, status & date, flowing into every tile on the page.
  • Fewer, better tiles. The counts that matter, the breakdown she asked to keep, one trend chart & one table where a row opens its detail.

Chip checked that the team filter changed the numbers before handing it back, & rewrote the dashboard's note to say what is there & why.
